THE MOST POPULAR NATIONAL EVENT FOR CLUB GOLFERS

In 2010 the matchplay championship will be celebrating it’s 15th birthday with Volvo as the new title sponsor.

How does the tournament work?

  • Two separate competitions, Better-Ball pairs and an Individual competition
  • Entry fee is £40 per pair and £20 for the Individual competition
  • Closing date is Friday 14th May 2010 – play commences on June 1st
  • The draw is made on a regional basis to minimise traveling
  • Matches are played at home or opponents course – many courses offer courtesy
  • Up to four knockout matches played between June and end of September
  • Stroke allowance is ¾ difference in Better-Ball and full difference in Individual
  • Winners of four matches qualify for one of 8 regional finals in October
  • Leading pairs and individuals at regional finals qualify for the Grand Final in Jan 2011

Gary Smith qualifies at The K Club

Congratulations to Gary Smith (13) from The County Club in Southampton for winning over four rounds at The K Club and qualifying automatically for the Volvo UK Final. Gary was a model of consistency scoring three 34s and a final round 35 stableford points over the very testing Palmer & Smurfit Courses at The K Club.
LESLEY MILNE TAKES EARLY RETIREMENT

I am sure you would all like to join us in wishing Lesley a long, happy and healthy retirement after over 20 years with Volvo. Lesley is the Sponsorship and Events Manager and has been largely responsible for the success of the Volvo in Golf programme and in particular the VMA Tour. The winner of the Volvo OoM each year will receive the Lesley Milne trophy.
HOLE IN ONE FOR STEVE VELLA

Congratulations to Volvo Tour regular Steve Vella from Chigwell GC, Essex who claimed his first hole in one on the 17th of The Lodge Course at Enville during the recent Volvo Tour event. Enville proved to be a very happy hunting ground for 11 hcap Steve whose 37 points in the morning on The Highgate Course was good enough to win and take him to 20th place on the OoM.
